  1. Anti-HSV1 activity was assessed by plaque reduction assay, antibacterial assays were carried out using turbidity assessment of serial dilutions of peptide inoculated with bacteria. In both cases concentrations yielding 50% inhibition of growth obtained from the plots (averages for several experiments are shown here). A dash indicates no detectible activity. Cationic amino acids are shown in bold.
