The involvement of Akt, NF-κB, and p38 MAPK in V. vulnificus -induced proinflammatory activation. Human PBMCs (2 × 106/ml) were infected with V. vulnificus (Vv05191; MOI = 1) for the indicated time periods after they had been pre-treated for 30 min with LY294002 (100 μM), wortmannin (25 nM), PDTC (25 μM), or SB203580 (25 μM). ELISA was used to determine the concentrations of IL-6 (A), IL-8 (B), and TNF-α (C). Data are the means ± SD from three individual experiments. *P < 0.05 vs. V. vulnificus infection only.
