Blastogenesis of murine lymph node cells induced by synthetic peptides derived from the COOH-terminal extension of L. (L.) amazonensis CPB. Cell cultures from 15 infected BALB/c (A) or CBA (B) mice were incubated for 3 days in 96-well plates with synthetic peptides (30 μg/mL), PLA (30 μg/mL) or Con A (2 μg/mL), coincubated with [3H]-timidine (0.1 μCi/well) in the final 16 h of culture and incorporated radioactivity (indicative of cell proliferation) was measured in a beta-scintillation counter. Results are from a representative assay from at least three independent repeats. *Statistically distinct from control (p < 0.05).
