  1. Mice were immunized with treatments containing PppA, LcV and LcM. Animals receiving phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) were used as controls. Results are expressed as log colony-forming units (CFU)/g of lung or log CFU/ml of nasal lavages (NL) and blood. The lower limits of bacterial detection were 1.5 log CFU/g of lung and 1.5 log CFU/ml of NL and blood, respectively. Significant differences among groups were established by using the least significant difference test (LSD).
