Spearman’s rank correlation coefficient between antibacterial activity of peptides and their physicochemical characterization. An individual symbol represents the result of a given experiment. Experiments presented in this paper involved: calcitonin gene-related peptide, neuropeptide Y, fragment of neuropeptide Y (NPYf = NPY18–36), substance P, and somatostatin. Data taken from Kowalska et al. [21] included: bradykinin, indolicidin, neurotensin, substance P, and substance P antagonist whereas data from El Karim et al. [23] contained: calcitonin gene-related peptide, neuropeptide Y, substance P, and vasoactive intestinal peptide. For further explanation see Materials and Methods.
