Diagnostic performance of measured parameters within the first 48 hours. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and area under the curves (AUC) were computed to compare the ability of different clinical parameters to predict infection. ROC curves are plotted and corresponding AUC values are given in the table. P < 0.05 was considered a significant difference and is indicated with *.
