Three individual HIV-negative subjects were matched for age, gender, race, and cocaine use to three HIV-positive subjects to achieve matching between the pooled samples. Equal amounts of protein (50 μg per lane) were loaded for western blotting; these samples contain exosomal proteins, as well as co-purifying non-exosomal proteins from other sources such as microparticles and residual plasma proteins.
