Neuropeptide-mediated killing of M. catarrhalis (Mc) and nontypeable H. influenzae (NTHi). Bacteria at ~ 2 × 106 CFU/ml were incubated at NaPB - 1% BHI (v/w) containing 100 μM concentration of NPY, CGRP, SP, and SOM for 0.5 and 1.5 h. Serially diluted aliquotes were plated on BHI agar. The data are expressed as mean survival ratios ± SEM from two independent experiments performed in triplicate.
