From: Estren promotes androgen phenotypes in primary lymphoid organs and submandibular glands
DHT increases the score for androgen phenotype in submandibular glands independently of estrogen receptors. 9-month-old male WT and DERKO mice were orchidectomized and treated for 4 weeks with E2 (0.05 μg/day) or DHT (44 μg/day), administered by s.c. silastic implants. Vehicle animals received empty implants. E2-treatment did not affect the androgen phenotype of SMG in either WT or DERKO mice. The SMG score for androgen phenotype was increased in DHT treated mice of both WT and DERKO genotype.
